Valve Position Indicator for Standard and ATEX Applications
The limit switch box EB300 is a modular valve position indicator for quarter-turn actuators on ball valves, butterfly valves and knife gate valves. It signals the OPEN and CLOSED end positions to the control system and is configurable in three housing materials, seven switch types and multiple explosion protection classes – from standard industrial use to ATEX Zone 1/21.
The adjustable mounting bracket enables direct installation on pneumatic actuators and electric actuators with VDI/VDE interface. Protection rating IP66 to IP68 per DIN EN 60529.
Three Housing Materials – From Standard to Hazardous Areas
- Aluminium limit switch box: robust, conductive housing for standard industry and ATEX zones (Ex d, Ex ia). Stainless steel mounting bracket (1.4301). IP66/IP67/IP68. −40 °C to +80 °C. Optional shaft pass-through with VDI/VDE interface.
- Polyamide limit switch box (PA6): lightweight, corrosion-free housing with polycarbonate cover. IP67. −25 °C to +80 °C. Cost-effective for non-hazardous areas. Optional solenoid valve connection and OPEN/CLOSED tower indicator.
- Vestamid limit switch box: conductive polymer for ATEX Zone 1/21 (Ex d, Ex ia). IP66/IP67. SIL 1–3 per IEC 61508. −25 °C to +70 °C. Lightweight with full explosion protection.
Switch Types and Explosion Protection
- Mechanical microswitches: Cherry D44X (SPDT), Crouzet 83139 (Ex d), Bartec 07-1511 (Ex de) – 24–250V AC/DC
- Inductive proximity switches: IFM IS5001, P+F NBB2-V3 (3-wire PNP) – 10–30V DC
- Inductive slot initiators: P+F SJ3.5-N (2-wire, Ex ia) – 8V DC
- Reed sensors, potentiometers, dual sensors, pneumatic switches – on request
Explosion protection ratings: non-Ex, Ex ia (intrinsically safe), Ex de / Ex t (flameproof), Ex nA / Ex t. ATEX certification: II 2G Ex db eb IIC T6 Gb / II 2D Ex tb IIIC T80°C Db. SIL 1–3 per IEC 61508:2010.
