Stainless Steel Ball Check Valve Type RB106 — Backflow Preventer for Flange and Thread

The stainless steel ball check valve type RB106 is a ball backflow preventer with a free-floating check ball. It is available in two connection variants. The flanged version RB106-SLNOF covers DN50 to DN300. The socket version RB106-SLNOI ranges from DN32 to DN50 and uses BSP female thread. During forward flow the ball lifts clear. It thereby opens the full pipe cross-section. On reverse flow it seals reliably against the body seat. Body and cover are manufactured in stainless steel 1.4408 (AISI 316). The check ball has an NBR coating. EPDM, PTFE and FKM are available as alternatives. This ball check valve 1.4408 covers pressure ratings PN10 and PN16. The operating temperature range is –20 °C to +80 °C. Typical applications include wastewater treatment, process engineering, cooling and heating circuits and chemically aggressive piping systems. FERGO supplies the stainless steel non-return valve in both connection variants ex stock.

Technical Data and Connection

The ball check valve with flange is available in nine nominal sizes. They range from DN50 to DN300. The ball check valve with thread covers three nominal sizes. These are DN32 (1¼”), DN40 (1½”) and DN50 (2″). All variants use BSP female thread. The flange connections conform to DIN PN16. The maximum operating pressure is 16 bar. The operating temperature range is –20 °C to +80 °C. During forward flow the free-floating ball clears the entire pipe bore. As a result, solids, fibres and suspended particles pass without obstruction.

Materials and Sealing

Body and cover of the stainless steel ball check valve are cast in 1.4408 (AISI 316). This austenitic stainless steel offers high resistance to acids, alkalis and chloride-bearing media. The check ball is made of steel with an NBR coating. EPDM, PTFE and FKM (Viton) are available as alternative ball coatings. The selection depends on the medium and operating temperature. Moreover, the stainless steel construction extends the application range beyond the GGG40 variant. It also suits chemically demanding and corrosive media.

Applications and Ordering

The ball backflow preventer stainless steel protects wastewater treatment plants reliably against reverse flow. The same applies to process engineering circuits, cooling and heating water systems and chemical process lines. The free-floating ball prevents blockages caused by solids and fibres. This gives a decisive advantage over swing or disc check valves in contaminated media. For custom solutions, project quantities or technical advice, the FERGO team is available.
