Product Overview

Ball Valves – DN8 to DN300, PN10 to PN100, TA-Luft, ATEX and DVGW Certified

The ball valve uses a through-bored ball that rotates 90° to open or close the flow passage. In the open position, the full bore provides minimal pressure drop. In the closed position, system pressure forces the floating ball against the downstream seat ring, creating a self-energised seal. Ball valves in steel comply with EN 17292 for industrial ball valves.

Fergo offers a comprehensive range. The threaded ball valves KH104/KH105 (brass, PN40, DVGW) and KH109/KH113 (stainless steel, PN63) cover DN8 to DN100. The flanged ball valves KH155 are available in stainless steel, steel and GGG40, DN15–DN300. The weld end ball valves KH154 are fully in stainless steel 1.4408, PN63. The 3-way ball valves KL103/KL113 are available with L-port or T-port bore from DN15 to DN50. All series feature the ISO 5211 mounting interface for pneumatic and electric J4C actuators.

Designed for chemical processing, petrochemicals, power generation, water treatment, food and beverage, HVAC, drinking water and gas supply. A Y-strainer upstream is recommended.

01 Threaded Ball Valves – Stainless Steel and Brass

The threaded ball valves of the KH104 and KH105 series are available in brass CW617N with BSP thread per ISO 228-1, DN8 to DN50, PN40, DVGW drinking water and WRAS. The KH109 and KH113 series are available in stainless steel 1.4408 with thread per ISO 7-1 (EN 10226-1), DN8 to DN100, PN63.

02 Flanged Ball Valves – Stainless Steel, Steel and Ductile Iron

The flanged ball valves KH155 in stainless steel 1.4408, steel 1.0619 and GGG40, DN15–DN300. Certifications: TA-Luft, Fire Safe, SIL 3, ATEX, AD2000-A4, NACE, PED.

03 Weld End Ball Valves – Stainless Steel

The weld end ball valves KH154 in stainless steel 1.4408, butt weld or socket weld per ANSI B16.25. Full bore, 3-piece, TFM 1600, PN63.

04 3-Way Ball Valves – L-Port and T-Port

The 3-way ball valves KL103 (stainless steel, PN63) and KL113 (brass, PN25) with L-port or T-port bore from DN15 to DN50.

05 Pneumatic Ball Valves

The pneumatic ball valves comprise pre-assembled units with DA or SR actuator. NAMUR solenoid valves and Switchmaster limit switch boxes complete the automation chain.

06 Electric Ball Valves

The electric ball valves comprise pre-assembled units with J4C actuator, multi-voltage 24V–240V AC/DC. Optional positioners and BSR battery backup available.

07 DVGW Ball Valves – Drinking Water and Gas

The DVGW-certified ball valves in GGG40 and brass with DVGW certification per DIN EN 13774.

08 Special Materials – Duplex and Chemical Service

The special material ball valves include duplex 1.4462, super-duplex 1.4410, Hastelloy.

Stainless Steel 1.4408 (CF8M / AISI 316)

Application: chemical processing, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, water treatment and corrosive media.
Temperature: –29 °C to +175 °C (with TFM 1600 seat).
Advantages: corrosion resistance in acidic, alkaline and saline media. Body, ball and stem in CF8M ensure high media purity.
Limitations: for media with high chloride content, duplex 1.4462 is recommended.

Steel 1.0619 (ASTM A216 WCB)

Application: steam, petrochemicals, power generation and high-pressure pipelines.
Temperature: –29 °C to +175 °C.
Advantages: high mechanical strength with pressure ratings up to PN100 and ANSI Class 300.
Limitations: susceptible to corrosion without surface treatment.

Ductile Iron GGG40 (EN-GJS-400-15)

Application: drinking water, gas supply, HVAC and fire protection.
Temperature: up to 120 °C.
Advantages: high mechanical strength, DVGW certification for drinking water and gas, cost-effective.
Limitations: limited corrosion resistance without internal coating.

Brass CW617N

Application: heating, sanitary, drinking water, compressed air and building installations from DN8 to DN50.
Temperature: –15 °C to +150 °C.
Advantages: good corrosion resistance, DVGW and WRAS certification (KH105 series), low weight.
Limitations: pressure limited to PN40.

Seat TFM 1600 / PTFE+15%GF / FKM

TFM 1600: modified PTFE with reduced permeability. –29 °C to +175 °C. Standard for the KH154 and KH155 series.
PTFE+15% glass fibre: reinforced PTFE. –25 °C to +180 °C. Standard for the KH109 and KH113 series.
PTFE: near-total chemical inertness. –15 °C to +150 °C. Standard for brass and GGG40 series.
FKM (Viton): solvents, hydrocarbons, petrochemicals. –15 °C to +200 °C.
All seat materials can consequently be checked via the chemical resistance tool.

Full Bore or Reduced Bore – Selection and Application

The choice between full bore and reduced bore determines the flow characteristics and body dimensions of the ball valve. The correct selection consequently depends on the pressure drop, required flow rate and space constraints of the installation.

Full Bore

With a full bore design, the internal diameter of the ball matches the internal diameter of the pipeline. Pressure losses are consequently minimal. This configuration is the right choice when the pipeline system requires pigging after commissioning, when inspection tools need to pass through, when the system must operate with minimal pressure losses, or when viscous or solids-laden media are transported.

Reduced Bore

With a reduced bore design, the internal diameter of the ball is one or two sizes smaller than the pipeline diameter. The body is consequently more compact, lighter and more cost-effective. This configuration is the right choice for shut-off duty without pigging requirement, for installations with limited space, and for applications where cost-effectiveness is the priority.

Selection Guide

The standard EN 17292 defines the requirements for industrial ball valves including bore classes. For sizing the correct bore, the Fergo technical team provides engineering support.

Fergo ball valves comply with the key European and international standards for industrial valve engineering. The stainless steel and steel ball valves meet EN 17292. Face-to-face dimensions follow EN 558-1 series 1, 14 and 15. Flanged connections comply with EN 1092-1 form B1 and ASME B16.5 Class 150/300. Certifications include TA-Luft (VDI 2440), Fire Safe (API 607 / ISO 10497), SIL 3 (IEC 61508), ATEX 2014/34/EU, AD2000-A4, NACE MR 0175 and PED 2014/68/EU.
